Punta Cana International Airport

The Punta Cana International Airport is by far the largest collection of terminals in the Dominican Republic. Providing quality air travel for over 6 million domestic and international passengers in 2016, the Punta Cana Airport offers direct flights from over 28 countries and 96 large cities around the world. The numerous and spacious terminals accommodate guests with comfortable seating while they await their flight. Additionally, signs are clearly printed in both Spanish and English to make terminal, customs, and baggage claim navigation a breeze.

Flight booking is simple on Punta Cana International Airport ‘s website. However, several other travel arrangements can be brokered through this booking service. Island guests can book rental car services, shuttles, hotel rooms, and even tours at the click of a button. Transportation to and from the airport is a snap. Guests may book shuttles or cars in advance, or hail a taxi just outside the expansive baggage claim area. Rental Car stations are also placed throughout the airport for easy access. Companies include Avis, Hertz, Dollar, Budget, and Eurocar so guests may conveniently travel with their favorite providers. Additionally, a complimentary shuttle service is offered for guests at the partnering Four Points Sheraton located at the Punta Cana Village.

Private planes are also serviced by the fixed base operation tarmacs to provide secure transport for business men and women, popular artists, politicians, and other members of the social elite. This accommodation can also be coupled with the airport’s VIP whisking services to make guest’s stay in paradise even choicer. The offered Entry & Exit Services require 48-hour advanced booking, but will be readily provided upon availability.

The Punta Cana Airport’s food court is an expansive area in the midst of the terminals for easy access during layovers or for early arrivals. The Skybar comes equipped with a variety of wines and liquors to suit a refined palate. Additionally, a number of popular restaurants line the interior so deciding what to eat is easy and quick. Choices include options like Wendy’s, Sbarro, Nathan’s, Cinnabon, Segafredo’s, and Baskin Robbins—for those with a sweet tooth.

At the airport’s Duty Free Americas shop, guests may purchase duty-free merchandise such as liquors, tobacco, watches, gifts, jewelry, and other travel-related items. Within the terminals area itself, guests are also afforded a well-rounded assortment of shopping experiences with famous brands like Victoria’s Secret.

Customs at the Punta Cana International Airport works almost seamlessly. Entry into the Dominican Republic requires a valid passport with at least two blank pages. When arriving at the customs/immigration desk, all guests will be distributed a 30-day tourist card rather than a visa. Additionally, the Punta Cana Airport holds diligently to the CESAC and TSA guidelines to keep travelers safe and well looked after. When a guest departs from the Dominican Republic, a small fee is charged based on the duration of their stay in the country. This is usually included in the airfare; however, travelers are encouraged to confirm this tax charge with their provider.
